Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is the process of borrowing material from other libraries.

Policies

Borrowing

We will attempt to borrow most types of material, however,  dissertations, audio-visual material, and entire journal issues are frequently difficult to obtain. We are not able to borrow textbooks.

Delivery

You will be notified by email when your materials are available.  Books will be held at the Circulation Desk for pick-up.  Articles are typically delivered electronically through a service called Article Exchange.  This service will provide a url and password for you to access the article. If the article is in print or microfilm, it will be held at the Circulation Desk for pick-up.

Renewing Loans

Please email ILLrequest@ut.edu to request a renewal for books.  Please include the name of the book and the desired due date in the email.  Renewals can only be granted by the lending library (not our library).  We will email you with either the new due date or a request to return the item by the original date.

Returning Loans

Please return books to the Circulation Desk in the original condition that they were borrowed in.  Please return books with all original stickers, book straps and paperwork still attached.  Be sure to return the material on time, too!

Please note that copies of articles do not need to be returned to the library.

Charges

Books:  As with any library material, Interlibrary Loan material will accrue overdue fines if returned late.  If you lose or damage the material, you are responsible for replacement charges. The borrower would also be responsible for any accrued overdue charges. Additional charges may be assessed.

Articles:  If there is a charge to obtain an article, we will contact you before proceeding.
