The first Thursday in May is World Password Day. Think about your passwords. Are you using the same password on many sites? Is your password "password?" Today is a good day to create an acrostic you know, a phrase that is meaningful to you where you pick the first letter of each word. Add some special characters and spaces. Spaces really mess up password hacking tools. Google Chrome has a special feature to let you know what passwords you have used that might have been leaked on the Dark Web. If that's the case, it's best to change them.
Apple, Google, Microsoft, and other companies are moving to FIDO tech to eliminate passwords! Can I get an Amen! FIDO refers to "Fast Identity Online" and uses your phone and browser to verify your identity to allow access. And the best part is FIDO passwordless systems are already here and will become commonplace in the next year. FIDO creates a more fast and secure authentication to get you into a website without having to remember a 20-character acrostic that changes every three months. Some whitepapers have shown that forced password changes may actually make things less secure because people start using the same password or keeping notes because they can't remember 30 different 20-character passwords.
