FMX: Film, Animation and New Media

Use this guide to help you with class projects involving digital and film production, animation, and new media studies. For majors, minors, and students taking courses in FMX.

Search everything.

Search across the entire library catalog (books, DVDs, government documents)
and most of the library databases (journal articles, images, newspapers).

Search Books

Type in a subject, director, film, or TV title, then limit to "Books." If you want ebooks, choose "Ebooks" from the top search bar under Everything.

Note that film production, new media, screenplays, sound recordings, and cinema books are not located in one single place in the library. If you are having trouble finding what you need on the shelves, ask a Reference Librarian for help.

Use WorldCat to find books in other libraries.

Fill out an InterLibrary Loan form to request a copy of a book you see elsewhere. If you find something you need at the public library or at USF, you have borrowing privileges. If you don't have a Hillsborough Public Library card, it is easy and free to sign up.

Reference Books

Take a look at some Reference Books to get started. These are good to use when you need an official definition to cite in your paper, or to gather broad information about a topic when you don't know where to start:
