Dictionaries and Encyclopedias

Sometimes you need a definition, or statistic, or basic fact for you paper that you can't find in a scholarly article. What can make this doubly frustrating is that sometimes you can find the information in Wikipedia, but you cannot use Wikipedia in your paper. (See Using Wikipedia for more on how to use this popular resource effectively.)

The resources listed below can help, but contact a librarian if you're not finding the information you're looking for.

Other Resources

UT's Language Media Library also makes available many foreign feature films on DVD, but users must go to the Lab to view them. Language Lab titles are searchable in the library's catalog.

Mango Languages

UT students who obtain a Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative card have access to Mango which offers online courses in over 70 languages.

The Italian American Society of St. Petersburg

Free Italian language classes are held every Thursday of the month, typically from September to May. See their website for more information.
