Bloomberg Terminal

The purpose of this guide is to help you locate and use the Bloomberg Terminals located in the Macdonald-Kelce Library.

Bloomberg Keyboard

Red Keys     Red keys are STOP keys
Green Keys   Green keys are ACTION keys
Yellow Keys   Yellow keys are MARKET SECTOR keys. Press any of the yellow keys for a main menu for a specific sector, e.g Equity
GO     <GO> is equivalent to ENTER and should follow every function/command to activate a page
Menu   Menu takes you to the previous screen
Page
Back 
  Scroll back within a screen that contains multiple pages
Page
Fwd
  Scroll forward within a screen that contains multiple pages
EX-To move from page 2 to page 15, type 13 and press <Page Fwd>.
Command   A Re-cap of the previously used function appears in the top left each time you press <Command>
LAST <GO>     Manually type LAST to review the last 8 functions used
Print   Press print once to print the current page.
# Print   # is the number of pages you wish to print. So, if this is a 5-page function or news story, press 5 and Print
Help   Press <Help> key once to display the on-line Help and description of how to use the current function
Help Help   Press the <Help> key twice to instant message the 24-hour Bloomberg Help Desk
EASY <GO>   To see a list of Bloomberg tips and shortcuts
HDSK <GO>   To see a list of all your historical questions and answers sent to/received from the Bloomberg Help Desk
<Alt> K   Display a graphic of the Bloomberg keyboard
F2  GOVT   Worldwide sovereign and agency securities
F3  CORP   Corporate debt
F4  MTGE   Mortgage-backed security pass-throughs
F5  M-MKT   Continuously issued and short-term dated paper
F6  MUNI   U.S. municipality issued debt
F8  EQUITY   ADRs, mutual funds, rights, stocks, options, warrants
F9  CMDTY   Commodities, futures, options, spot rates
F10  INDEX   World financial markets, economic indices
F11 CRNCY   Spots, futures, options on over 100 currencies
    You can type the mnemonic or press the button for a sector.
     

Help Key

Bloomberg <F1/Help> key

The green <HELP> key is an extra special key on the Bloomberg keyboard. Use it to search the entire Bloomberg system. Simply type in your search terms and hit the <HELP> key.

When on an unfamiliar page, hit <HELP> once to see what help documentation Bloomberg has available on that page/function. Hit <MENU> to return to the former screen.
