This guide supports the curriculum of the Bachelor of Arts in Museum Studies. Here you will find resources on curatorial practice, exhibition design, museum administration, non-profit management, conservation and preservation, and collections management

What is Museum Studies?

Museums, galleries, historical societies, and other cultural heritage institutions are unique establishments that require trained professionals to make them successful. It takes a team of experts in a variety of fields to run a museum: curators, records management specialists, art handlers, grant writers, museum educators, development administrators, and conservators are just some of the careers you can pursue.

You'll learn not only theory and art historical methodologies, but also practical principles in how to run a non-profit. Those pursuing museum studies desire this marriage of historical and aesthetic expertise with business management skills, and will benefit from understanding how scholarship can translate into extraordinary exhibitions and programming.
