Search SUMMON: Cross-search books, journal articles, and more
In Summon, search for a film title, director, or film genre, then limit "Content Type" to "Books/eBooks."
For articles, click "Journal Article", "Magazine Article", or "Newspaper Article."
Tips for searching Film Studies materials in the UTOPIA catalog:
Find specific films by searching for the title of the film, and selecting TITLE BEGINS WITH. The word VIDEORECORDING in parentheses following the title indicates the item is a DVD (and not the novel, if applicable).
PARIS, TEXAS (VIDEORECORDING)
To find materials about a film, type in the title of the film and append "(MOTION PICTURES)," then select SUBJECT BROWSE. This works best for more well known films that have books written about them.
CITIZEN KANE (MOTION PICTURES)
GONE WITH THE WIND (MOTION PICTURE)
Find materials by or about specific directors by searching their last name, first name. Select AUTHOR BROWSE for items by them; select SUBJECT BROWSE for items about them.
To find materials specific to films from a particular nation or in a specific language, use the following Library of Congress Subject Heading, with the relevant country or language appended, and SUBJECT BROWSE selected.

You can find materials for specific genres of film using more specific subject headings, and SUBJECT BROWSE selected.

Find materials on specific topics in film using their Library of Congress subject headings.
