Frequently Asked Questions

(Please contact the Faculty Grant Committee chair at FGC@ut.edu for any other questions)

For Professional Development Awards (PDA) and Reearch Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Grant Awards:

1. My work is not published; what should be posted in the UoTIR?

The intent is for the Faculty Grant Collection of the UoTIR to contain the intellectual contributions of the faculty members supported by the grant. It is understood that a published version may not be ready at the end of the grant. Consider posting:

  • the current manuscript draft,
  • an extended abstract, or
  • a report that describes the research’s outcome.

2. My work is already published. What should I submit?

Please fill out the form and include information about the work and where it is published (journal, article DOI, URL, etc.) The UoTIR record will show an abstract and a link out to the published work.

3. The outcome of my RISE Grant or PDA is not an article; what should I post?

If the work has not been published, see question 1 above. If the work was completed, use your judgement to provide a representation of it. For example:

  • Art Project - An image of the work
  • Recital or performance - A copy of or link to the program
  • Conference Presentation - A PDF of the presentation or a link to the Conference Program or Proceedings
  • Pedagogic Materials - A PDF of the materials and/or a description of the materials

4. I received a PDA; what should I use for the Grant Worktag?

The worktag is PDA <Year> where <Year> is the year in which you received the course offload.

5. Do I need to update the posting once the work is published?

Yes. The intent is for the collection to contain the faculty’s intellectual contributions resulting from the grants. Please revise the end of Grant post with the final version or provide a link to where it has been published as soon as possible.
